Labor department gets highest applications after Katrina
The labor department received 407,000 applications for unemployment benefits that rose from 369,000, by the end of the last month and this is highest number of applications received by the department immediately after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf coast.
The last time when highest applications were received by the department was on Sep 17 in the year 2005.The economist reported that there has been slow deterioration in the labor market.
