US born citizens commit more crime than immigrants

The total population constituted by people who are immigrants in California is 35%. California is one of the most populous states of US. The reports published by Public Policy Institute of California showed that 17% of the prison population is of the non US born citizens.

The research suggested that punishing immigrants and increasing penalties on immigrants will not be helpful in lessening the crime rates in the state. Immigrants are mostly attributed for the crimes in the state and the study proved it wrong. The study also suggested that 2.5 times more , US born people are imprisoned then immigrants.
