Insurance company to pay $9 million in damages
The online insurance company Health Net Inc has been ordered by the court to pay $9.4 million as a punishment for not fulfilling the promises made to its customers. Patsy Bates, 51, is a cancer patient and her insurance policy was cancelled by Health Net.
The company has been canceling the policies to individuals who made huge claims and the company has also been accused of paying bonuses to its underwriters for helping the cancellations.
