First set of Images of Mercury to be sent by MESSENGER
The spacecraft MESSENGER will send its first set of images of the planet mercury to the NASA’s space station. It will be a great achievement to receive the rare close up images of the smallest and innermost planet of solar system by space agency.
Earlier the images of mercury were taken in 1973-75 by the Mariner 10 mission. The spacecraft MESSENGER was placed very close to the planet mercury i.e. at about 124.6 miles on January 14; 2008.The craft is expected to enter the orbit by 2011.The images will help the scientists to study about the constitution of the planet.
