Benazir Bhutto assassinated while campaigning

During her election campaigning at Rawalpindi the lead opposition leader of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto was assassinated when she pulled off the bullet proof glass of her vehicle to bid farewell to her supporters and was hit by 2 bullets in her neck by armed gunmen on the motorbike near her vehicle. The motorbikes blasted themselves after killing the lead lady of Pakistan and more than 20 people died in the suicide bomb attacks by the assassinators.

To end the military rule and to process the restoring of democracy in Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto had returned from 8 year exile to Pakistan in October. She had released her party polls papers for the elections that were announced to be held in January. People of Pakistan accused President Musharraf of killing her by not providing high security to her.
