Human rights criticize emergency in Pakistan

The declaration of emergency and arrest of thousands of leaders and political party workers in Pakistan by President Pervez Musharraf has been criticized by the human rights groups.
The control over media and control on oppositions by political parties has been criticized by human right groups. The president has plans to hold elections in Pakistan in January to retain democracy.
The human right groups said that the emergency rule and control by the president will prohibit democracy installation in the country and the non-biased campaigning by opposition candidates will be disallowed in the current prevalent situation in Pakistan.
