Fire Prevention week

There are many Fire prevention methods and guidelines provided by Martinsburg City Fire Department on the week celebrating as Fire Prevention week. The Fire Department has asked the residents to follow instructions given by them in case of fire. The Fire Department offers a free smoke detector device to all the households.

The instructions say that in case of fire all the family members should get out of the house to meet at a common meeting point. The instruction is that you should never go back to the house on fire. Fire at home can be caused by misuse of electrical and heating equipment, careless smoking, cooking, unattended or uncontrolled outdoor burning and arson.

To celebrate the week the officials will travel to various schools to teach students about fire and preventions. The importance of enforcement of building code, sprinkler systems and smoke detectors is made known to the people all over the state in the week. These steps will help the Fire Department reduce the number of deaths in fire.
