MMS case: IIT student gets bail

MMS case: IIT student gets bail

New Delhi, December 24: A Delhi Court on Friday granted bail to IIT Kharagpur student Ravi Raj, accused of selling the sexually explicit Multi Media Service (MMS) involving two Delhi students on web portal Baazee.com. Ravi was the first person to get arrested in this case and the last one to get bail.

The court observed that the other two accused in the case, Baazee CEO Avnish Bajaj and a school student, had already been released on bail. It described the incident as the result of a ‘‘serious lapse on the part of Baazee.com.’’

But the trouble is far from over for his father Ramakant, a driver with a coal mine in Jharkhand, as the Additional Sessions Judge Aruna Suresh has asked him to furnish two bonds of Rs 50,000 each before his son can be released.

The court also directed him not to leave the country and surrender his passport, co-operate with the investigating agency and not try to influence any witness.
